MEET THE PASTOR
Rev. Anthony L. Hodges was born April 10th in Nashville, Tennessee. He spent the majority of his adolescent and teen-age years growing up in Chicago, Illinois. He attended Morgan Park High School in Chicago, and graduated in June 1974. While in high school, he was President of the Key club and a member of the Swim Team.
Rev. Hodges received a four-year scholarship in swimming to Tennessee Stae University (TSU) in Nashville, Tennessee in 1974. He graduated from TSU with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in 1978. While at TSU, he recived his call to preach. He preached his Trial Sermon at the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee in January 1976.
Rev. Hodges received his Masters of Engineering in Engineering Science in 1983 from Pennsylvania State University. Several Engineering/Software companies have employed him as a Systems/Engineer.
He has served the following churches as an Associate Minister from 1976 to 2002: Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Nashville, TN, Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Chicago, IL, McKinley Memorial Baptist Church, Willow Grove, PA, Second Baptist Church, Freehold, Holy Temple COGIC, Long Branch, NJ, Macedonia Baptist Church, Trenton, NJ, Second Baptist Church, Keyport, NJ.
He has served the following churches as Pastor: Macedonia Baptist Church, Neptune, NJ (1984-1987) and the Second Baptist Church, Matawan, NJ (2002-2007).
He has worked with various Ministries in several of the churches, while at Mt. Calvary, he worked extensively with the Children's Church. While at SBC Freehold, he conducted a Prison Ministry at the Freehold Correctional Institute. While at Macedonia, Trenton, NJ, he served as Superintendent of the Sunday School.. While at SBC Keyport, he served as Assistant to the Pastor.
Rev. Hodges has been the Employment Committee Chairman for the Prison Friends Outreach Ministry from 1983 until 2007. He is a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and has supported "Project Alpha", an initiative to prevent teen pregnancy.
He has been married to Crystal since 1986. They have five children, Anthony Jr., Lester, and Margaret, Shaun and Stephen (twins), and 1 grandson Ahwill .
Rev. Hodges has completed his 2nd year at New Brunswick Theological Seminary, New Brunswick, NJ.
